Home to about 2,250 people Fishbourne is a thriving village community. In addition to the natural environment the village benefits from two pubs, it's own sports and social club with a large playing field and a bicycle shop.

Visitors to the village will find a number of places to stay and eat within the village itself, and served by both bus and rail links it is an easy journey to some larger towns in the area.

The Parish of Fishbourne comprises the two original villages of Old Fishbourne and New Fishbourne. The name Fishbourne is derived from Fissaburna, Fiseborne and Fysshburn all meaning a stream with fish. A settlement on the site, the remain of which can be seen at the Fishbourne Roman Palace, has been traced back to Roman times.
